Attwood Corporation a subsidiary of Brunswick Company, is a leader in the manufacturer of marine canvas, seating and upholstery. We currently have an opportunity for highly motivated team players with a thorough understanding of industrial upholstery and assembly of soft goods. Candidate needs to be proficient in the assembly of soft goods/upholstery and have the ability or knowledge to interrupt the skills to produce marine canvas, seating, and upholstery goods.
Provides design, engineering, and CAD guidance with minimal assistance or oversight during all phases of the New Model Development Process. Assures that new products are innovative and promote our Brand through Design, Form, and Functionality. Clearly communicate design and engineering intent that is manufacturable and meets our customer demands. Works closely with Customers and Suppliers to define new product objectives. Provides three-dimensional models as required during the exploration and concept phases of the new product process. Conduct and participate in cooperative design reviews, test plan development, and design validation meetings with the customer. Stay abreast of new customer specifications and the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) standards pertaining to Seat design and development.
Create working Bill of Materials
Entering Bill of Materials into a database
Develop Manufacturing Routings
Generate Engineering Change requests
Coordinate with Product Management on customer quotations
Create Foam Patterns for CNC cutter
Create Substrate Drawings for quotations
Digitize Vinyl Cover patterns
Create 3D data for seating hardware support systems
Create 2D drawings for new components and hardware
Updating 2D and 3D files for customer design changes
Answering email requests from internal and external customers
Customer requests for new products or design changes
Customer Fit Trials—which includes traveling onsite to customer location, installing drill templates, installing trim and seating for customer evaluations
The above duties may be supplemented occasionally with other job duties and/or
Assignments related to career or personal development.
Education Requirements (special training, college degree, etc.)
2-3 years of industry-related experience with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design
3-5 years of industry-related experience with an Associates Degree in Design and Drafting
2-3 years of Solidworks experience (strongly preferred)
Microsoft Office tools experience
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) basic knowledge and application
Ability to create Design Validation Plan & Reports
Ability to facilitate and/or support Design of Experiments
Ability to lead and create Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis reports (DFMEA)
Knowledge and experience in the Marine industry (preferable)
Ability to drive projects to completion
Work Environment (travel, shift, lifting requirements, hazardous conditions, etc.)
Ability to travel to customer sites for OEM project development is required; travel will sometimes be on short notice
International travel will be required (15%)
Possible annual travel to Trade Shows as a representative
